Locomotives

BlueScope & Pacific National (2019) Port Kembla Steelworks locomotive fleet maintenance regime and lifecycle review.

TasRail TR class locomotives (2014) - 17 units designed and built by PRS under contract to Downer.  Operational introduction coordination and asset maintenance plan development and implementation.

CSR 4000hp AC locomotives (2011) - 10 units for SCT Logistics designed and built by China Southern Railway Ziyang Locomotive

FreightLink locomotive fleet plan review (2010) - assess locomotive fleet options and determine the optimised fleet profile to meet the needs of the business over the next 5 to 10 years;

Austar Coal Mine (2009) - assess the suitability of Chinese manufactured locomotives and hopper wagons to support their train operations between mine and port facilities in NSW;

92 class, 4,000hp AC - 15 units designed and built by United Group (2008).  Specified as a highly productive heavy haul locomotive which is adaptable to either Bulk Coal haulage on 30.0 tonne axle load and also higher speed Intermodal freight with 23.0 tonne axle load;

XB class, 3,000hp DC - 3 units designed and built by Freight Australia (2007).  Procured to meet the demand of banking locomotives between Adelaide and Melbourne.  Specified and selected on the basis of value, delivery lead time and without a Driving cabin;

NR class, 4,000hp DC - 120 units designed and built by Goninan (1996 - 1998).  Business case development and approval to replace a hired locomotive fleet in an aged and poor condition.  An innovative locomotive performance specification was used to procure this fleet.  A 15 year supply and maintain contract established including fuel consumption warranties;

AN class, 4,000hp DC - 11 units designed and built by Clyde Engineering (1990);

EL class, 3,000hp DC - 14 units designed and built by Goninan (1989).

Wagons

TasRail fleet implementation support for intermodal, bulk ore, coal and cement wagons procured from Shenyang China (2014-2015)

PHAY ore hopper - 374 platforms designed and built by QRRS China (2011-2012);

PQRY 48-foot flat - 65 units designed and built by Bradken (2008).  An innovative multi-purpose steel product hauling wagon utilising detachable steel product frames based on a standard intermodal platform configuration;

RRQY 5-pack articulated - 85 units designed and built by QRRS China (2005-2006);

RRXY 5-pack well - 11 units designed by Worley-Williams and built by Bradken (2006);

RRYY 5-pack articulated car carrier - 52 units designed by Worley-Williams and built by Bradken (2004);

RHHH 120t coal hopper - 120 units designed and built by QRRS China (2000).

Railcars

EMU Matangi Railcars - review of maintenance regime and organisation managing 83 Matangi EMU and 25 passenger carriages for TransDev and Hyundai-Rotem Wellington (2019)

EMU Railcars - 66 electric 25 kV railcars designed and built by Bombardier Transportation for Public Transport Services South Australian Government (2011);

Bluebird Railcars - 15 units recommissioned & upgraded by AN Islington (1988);

Budd Car - 3 units recommissioned & upgraded by AN Port Augusta (1986).

Workshop Facilities

TasRail rolling stock under floor wheel lathe (2016-17) - process review, business case, site selection, facility specification, tender process and acceptance of the facility maintaining a fleet of 25 locomotives and 300 wagons;

Public Transport Services South Australian Government (2012) - Seaford EMU Commissioning Facility design review and project manage services into the new facility supporting 66 new 25kV electric railcars;

Public Transport Services South Australian Government (2010) - Dry Creek Railcar facility design review and project manage transition of maintenance services into the new facility supporting 100 diesel electric railcars;

National Rail Locomotive Maintenance Centre Spotswood VIC (1997) -encompassing design review, equipment selection and licensing agreement with maintenance Contractor;

National Rail Wagon Maintenance Centre Dynon VIC (1994) - site selection, upgrade design and refurbishment, staffing and implementation;

Australian National Motive Power Centre Dry Creek (1991) - rationalisation of Australian National locomotive maintenance into one new facility.  Included design review, industrial negotiations, equipment selection, transition planning and re-location logistics.
 

Train Control and Communication Systems

Project Coordinator for implementing into TasRail business operations the Advanced Train Control System.  This was a ~$12.5m project integrating a Siemens developed system with a TAIT digital radio system aligned with TasRail procurement contracts including specifications and user requirements (2016-17);

Consultant responsible for the installation of the ARTC ICE Radio system into the 12 off SCT locomotives procured from CSR China (2012-13);

Accountable manager for implementation of the ARTC In Cab Automated Points System (ICAPS) on the Pacific National locomotive fleet (2006);

Accountable manager for the Australia Wide Augmented Radio Environment (AWARE) radio system procurement and implementation in the National Rail NR class locomotive fleet.  This system was the precursor to the ARTC ICE radio system (1996-1999).
